Understanding your numbers: SMS and Caller ID

Call Loop gives you two types of numbers, each serving a different purpose. Here's how they work and how to get started with each one.

SMS numbers

An SMS number is the phone number your contacts will receive text messages from. Every Call Loop plan includes your first SMS number at no extra cost.

Your first SMS number is included with any plan. You do not need to purchase it separately.

If you need additional SMS numbers beyond your first one, you can purchase them from within your account.

How to get your SMS number

  1. Go to Settings and click on Numbers in the left-hand menu.

  2. Your first number will already be available as part of your plan. Click Get my number to activate it.

  3. To add more numbers, click Buy a number and follow the checkout steps.

Caller ID numbers

A Caller ID number is the outbound number your contacts will see when they receive a call or voicemail from you. Caller ID numbers are used exclusively for voice broadcasts and ringless voicemails.

How to add a Caller ID number

  1. Go to Settings and click on Numbers in the left-hand menu.

  2. Click Add a Caller ID.

  3. Add your own caller ID Phone Number.

  4. By default, we will call you at that number with an automated phone call. Answer the call and enter the verification code provided to confirm the number is yours.

Can't answer the verification call? If the phone call doesn't work, here are your options:

Option 1 β€” Temporary IVR adjustment If your number routes through a phone tree (IVR), you can temporarily configure it to route verification calls directly to a person, bypassing the general operator. Once you receive the call and enter the verification code, you can restore your original phone tree configuration.

Option 2 β€” SMS verification (by request) If your number can receive SMS, we can send a verification code by text instead. This option is available by request only. To ask for it, reach out to us via our online chat and a team member will get it set up for you.

Option 3 β€” Extension routing If your number has an extension option, you can add an extension that routes directly to a person who can answer the verification call. This avoids any changes to your existing IVR setup.
