Integrating with Twilio

Bring your Twilio account straight to Call Loop. Enjoy Call Loop features without the migration hassle.

Please be aware: Twilio is connected from inside Call Loop, in Settings → Integrations → Twilio. You can’t install Call Loop from the Twilio side or from the Twilio Marketplace. If you’re on a paid plan, connecting Twilio releases your current Call Loop toll-free and local numbers (see Connecting your account).

Twilio integration with Call Loop: a unique approach

Unlike our standard suite of integrations, the Twilio integration offers an easy way to link your Twilio account with the Call Loop platform, granting access to the comprehensive features of a regular Call Loop account while retaining your numbers, rates, and compliance.

Key benefits

  1. Retain your numbers. With this integration, there is no need to port numbers. Call Loop will seamlessly configure any number you opt to use in our UI.

  2. Compliance made easy. If your numbers are already registered under 10DLC or have toll-free verification, they are ready to use. There is no need for additional verification processes.

  3. Maintain your rates. Users pay Call Loop a flat platform fee for each message sent. All other billing aspects remain under your existing Twilio account.

Preparation steps

Before initiating the integration, consult with our Sales team to understand the latest pricing for our flat platform fee per message segment and call. Once you have a subscription plan in place, you are set to connect.

Connecting your account

  1. In Call Loop, go to Settings → Integrations and click Connect on the Twilio card.

  2. If your account is on a trial, the Connect Twilio form opens straight away.

If your account is on a paid plan, you’ll see a warning first. When you connect an external Twilio account:

    • your current toll-free and local numbers are released from Call Loop;

    • triggers, keywords and campaigns that use those numbers are disabled;

    • your messaging history stays untouched.

To keep those numbers, you can port them out (contact support before you connect) or create a new Call Loop account and connect Twilio there, leaving this account as it is. To go ahead, tick “I understand my toll-free and local numbers will be released” and click Continue.

  3. Enter your Twilio API Key and API Token, then click Apply. The Twilio card now shows that it’s connected.

API Key: Account → Keys & Credentials → API Keys

Important: Key type must be Standard.

API Secret:

  1. Go to the API keys & tokens section.

  2. Click the Create new API key or Create API Key button.

  3. Enter a name for the key and click Create API Key.

  4. Twilio will show you two values. The API Key SID (or Public Key) is the public identifier. The API Secret is the password.

Important: The full Secret is only displayed once when you create it. Copy it and save it in a safe place.

Once the correct data is inputted, you will be directed to a page displaying all your Twilio numbers. All settings for these numbers remain unchanged until you decide to assign them to a Call Loop inbox. On assignment, Call Loop will reconfigure the chosen number for both texting and calling.

Adding your Twilio numbers

Go to Settings → Numbers → Buy number → Manage external number. You’ll see the numbers in your Twilio account, and ones you’ve already added are greyed out. Select the numbers to use in Call Loop, click Continue, and confirm on the Payment step. They then appear in your Numbers list as External, and Call Loop sets them up for texting and calling. Your other Twilio numbers stay as they are.

Trial and upgrade process

Your new integrated account will start on a trial basis, with limitations such as a watermark, 25 free credits and one test number. To upgrade to your custom plan, reach out to our support team.

Access to Call Loop features

With this integration, you will have access to a full range of Call Loop features, including:

  • Text messaging, inbox triaging, broadcasting

  • Voice messaging

  • A wide array of external integrations, such as HubSpot, ClickBank, and Zapier

  • Ringless voicemails

  • Triggers, keywords, and webhooks

  • And much more

Notable differences

Despite the extensive features, there are a few distinctions for Twilio integrated accounts:

  • No compliance info in the Call Loop UI. Currently, compliance details will not be displayed within the Call Loop settings.

  • Updating credentials. You can connect, disconnect, and update your Twilio credentials at any time from Settings → Integrations → Twilio → ⋯ → Edit, including rotating your API Key and Secret without losing the connection.

  • Disconnecting. Go to ⋯ → Disconnect and turn off Phone numbers, Triggers and Broadcasts to confirm. Triggers go from Active to Disabled, scheduled broadcasts go back to Draft, and broadcasts that are sending are paused.

We are excited for you to experience the benefits of connecting Twilio with Call Loop. Our Sales team is ready to guide you on this journey to enhance your business communications.
