Campaigns vs. Broadcasts: what's the difference?

For all Call Loop customers

Overview

Call Loop gives you two ways to send messages: Campaigns and Broadcasts. Both are powerful, but they serve different purposes. Knowing which one to use will save you time and help you get better results.

The simplest way to think about it: Campaigns are automated, and Broadcasts are manual.

At a glance

šŸ“… Campaigns

  • Automated sequences

  • Multiple messages over multiple days

  • Schedule each message at a specific time

  • Contacts enroll automatically based on triggers

  • Runs in the background without manual effort

šŸ“£ Broadcasts

  • Manual, one-time sends

  • One message sent at a time

  • You choose when to send it

  • You select the recipients manually

  • Best for immediate, one-off messages

Campaigns

Campaigns are designed for automated, multi-step messaging. Once set up, they run on their own, no manual sending required.

With Campaigns you can:

  • Send multiple messages spread across multiple days, for example, five messages over five days.

  • Schedule each message to go out at a specific time of day.

  • Automatically enroll contacts based on triggers such as being added to a list, submitting a form, or a webhook event.

  • Run several campaigns simultaneously for different audiences or goals.

Example: You set up a 5-day welcome campaign. Day 1 sends an intro message at 9am, Day 3 sends a follow-up at 11am, and Day 5 sends a special offer at 2pm. Once a contact enrolls, everything runs automatically.

Broadcasts

Broadcasts are for sending a single message to a group of contacts, manually and immediately. They're great for announcements, promotions, or any time you need to reach people right now.

With Broadcasts you can:

  • Send one message at a time to your selected contacts.

  • Choose exactly when to send it.

  • Reach your audience quickly without any automation setup.

Example: You want to send a flash sale announcement today. You write one message, select your list, and send it. Done.

Which one should I use?

Use Campaigns when...

You want to send a series of messages automatically over time, such as onboarding sequences, follow-ups, win-back flows, or any multi-step communication that should run without you having to manually send each one.

Use Broadcasts when...

You have a one-time message to send right now, like a promotion, an announcement, a reminder, or any communication that doesn't need to be part of a sequence.

Not sure? If you'll be sending more than one message to the same audience over time, Campaigns is the right tool. If it's a single send, go with Broadcasts.
